Enhanced Maintenance
With its unique mix of coastal beauty, charming neighborhoods, and a diverse mix of shops, restaurants, and other businesses, the Village of La Jolla is one of the most iconic and beautiful areas in the city of San Diego. But, the community has suffered over time from a lack of ongoing maintenance and enhancement, affecting the aesthetic appeal and quality of life for residents, businesses, and visitors.
The City of San Diego simply does not have the resources to provide the level of maintenance needed in the community, and we often see overflowing trash cans, litter in the streets and dirty sidewalks throughout the Village. This has resulted in more vacant storefronts, a decline in business, and a less vibrant and active community. The Maintenance Assessment District allows the community to generate funds and have local control to improve the level of maintenance in the community.
Ability to Complete Capital Improvement Projects
In addition to ongoing maintenance, the community also has a desire to implement capital improvement projects that will help make the Village a more inviting and vibrant place to be. Enhance La Jolla will work in partnership with the La Jolla Community Foundation to raise private donations for capital improvements. The Maintenance Assessment District for the Village provides the ability for the community, working through Enhance La Jolla, to privately fund and construct projects that will benefit the Village.
